For dogs who have slowed down

Your back seat has a hole in it.

Between the rear bench and the front seats there is a drop of about eight inches. It is called the footwell, and your dog has been bracing against it every time you touch the brakes. PawSide covers it with a rigid floor — one flat surface, all the way across.

The hole doesn’t look like much until a dog has to stand over it.

After

A young dog steps across the gap without thinking about it. An older dog stands with his front paws on the bench and his back legs hunting for something solid. That moment is what this cover is built for.

Three drawings, one argument

Why a floor, and not a hammock

Hammock covers are the default, and for a young dog in a muddy coat they are fine. They were never designed to be stood on.

1The footwell

Every back seat has one

It is where your feet go, and it sits roughly eight inches below the bench. A dog standing on the seat has nothing under his front legs but air.

2A hammock hangs over it

It covers the hole without filling it

Fabric slung between the headrests still has nothing underneath. Step on the middle and it drops away. Dogs learn this in one journey and stop trusting it.

3A floor fills it

A rigid panel spans the gap

Inside the quilting is a PP plate rated to 270 lb. It bridges the footwell at seat height and stays there whether he is standing, turning or lying down.

Built for older dogs

Rigid base panel

One level surface from door to door. He can lie flat, turn around, or step off at seat height instead of climbing out of a dip.

Raised side walls

The sides fold up into padded walls, so he cannot slide off onto the floor on a roundabout or a sharp stop.

Why we started with one product

We began at the door, not at the seat.

Most dog car covers are designed around a dog who jumps in. We started from the opposite end — the dog who pauses at the open door, looks at the height, checks where his back legs are, and decides whether it is worth it.

Once you start there, the hammock stops making sense. It is a drop sheet for mud, not a surface to stand on. So we went looking for the version with a rigid panel inside the quilting, and that is the one thing we sell.

When there is a second product, it will be because this one needed it — not because the catalogue looked thin.

What happens after you order

Try it in your car for 30 days

If it does not fit, or your dog will not use it, email us within 30 days and we refund you in full.

You do not need to send it back. Shipping a cover this size back to us costs more than the cover. Keep it, pass it to a friend, or take it to a shelter. All we ask is that you tell us what went wrong.

Questions people ask first

Before you order

Will it fit my car?

It is built for the rear bench of most SUVs, crossovers, full-size sedans and pickup trucks. It measures 51.9 by 65.0 inches unfolded. Your rear seats must have headrests — the straps loop around them. If it does not fit yours, the 30-day guarantee covers it and you keep the cover.

Is it waterproof?

Yes. The 600D Oxford has a waterproof coating, so rain, mud and accidents sit on the surface rather than soaking through to your seats. The seams are stitched rather than sealed, so we would not leave a full bowl of water standing on it overnight.

What stops him sliding off the side?

The sides fold up into padded walls that sit between your dog and the doors. Fold them down to load him in, then fold them up once he is settled.

How much weight will it take?

The internal PP panel is rated to 270 lb, which is well beyond any dog. The figure matters because it tells you the panel does not flex when a large dog puts all his weight on one edge.

How do I clean it?

Wipe it with a damp cloth for everyday dirt, or take it out and rinse it outside the car. Fold the side walls down first so the whole surface is flat.

How long will delivery take?

Your cover leaves the warehouse within 1 to 3 business days. You get a tracking number by email the moment it does, so you can follow it the rest of the way.
