Our Journey — From a Simple Problem to One Good Product

We are glad you found us. PawSide is a small shop with one product and one idea behind it, and this page is the short version of how it got here.

It All Started with a Simple Problem

Like most small ideas, PawSide started with something that did not work.

A dog who used to jump straight into the back of the car stops at the open door instead. He looks at the height. He checks where his back legs are. Then he looks at you. He is not being stubborn — he is working out whether it is worth it.

Look at the back seat from his side and you see why. Between the rear bench and the front seats there is a drop of about eight inches: the footwell. A young dog steps across it without a thought. An older dog stands with his front paws on the bench and his back legs hunting for something solid, and braces every time the car slows down.

A Brand Built Around One Idea

The usual answer is a hammock — a sheet of fabric slung between the headrests. It hangs over the hole without filling it. Step on the middle and it gives way, and a dog who has felt that once stops trusting it.

So we went looking for the other kind: a cover with a rigid panel built inside the quilting, one that bridges the footwell at seat height and stays level whether he is standing, turning or lying down. When we found one that was properly made, we decided to sell that and nothing else.

No catalogue. No seasonal range. One cover, chosen carefully, sold properly.

• Thirty days, and you keep it either way. If it does not fit your car, or your dog will not use it, email us and we refund you in full. You do not need to send it back.

Being Straight With You

A few things we would rather say here than have you find out later.

We did not design or manufacture this cover. We chose it, from a manufacturer we selected, because of the panel inside it. Figures such as the 440 lb rated load are the manufacturer published specifications, not our own test results.

And it is a seat cover, not a safety device. It has not been crash tested, and it will not hold your dog in place in a collision. If you want him restrained, use a crash-tested harness — it works perfectly well on top of this cover.

Plenty of shops our size would write a longer story instead of a list like this. We would rather be the kind of shop you can check.

The Real Difference — You

Every email is answered by a person who can actually do something about your order, usually within a day. There is no ticket queue and no script.

If something goes wrong, we would much rather hear it from you than read about it later. And if this cover makes one journey easier for an old dog, that is the whole point of it.
